The Peacock Clan Chief diligently incubated an egg for 300 years, only to hatch a little yellow chick covered in dull gray feathers. Under the name of "wild chicken," Kong Qingci wreaked havoc on her entire clan for 500 years. No one dared attend her birthday banquet, so she angrily wrote sixteen resignation letters and ran away from home. Little did she know that just after descending the mountain, she nearly ended up as chicken soup at the hands of a village woman. She was saved by Feng Ci, the Phoenix Crown Prince who had fled an arranged marriage and descended to the mortal world, using a painting of a "wild chicken." On the surface, he had her pose as a model and plucked her feathers to make brushes, but in truth, he had held a grudge against her for 500 years because when she was five, she had snatched the very first feather of his natal tail that had just grown in.
