Modern female water conservancy worker Xu Maimiao time-travels to Qingshi Village in the Great Liang dynasty, starting off by being sunk into a river as a god sacrifice. Using her meteorological knowledge to predict heavy rain and save herself, she exposes Fairy Liu's witchcraft scam. Her second uncle colludes with the fairy to forge a house deed and seize their family property, while successive strange occurrences plague the village, such as well water poisoning and granary theft by spontaneous combustion.
