Modern surveyor Li Che transmigrates into the soul of the Sixth Prince of the Daqing Dynasty. Framed by the Crown Prince, he is demoted to the Prince of Ninggu Prefecture and sent far away to the harsh and cold northeastern frontier. Along the way, he recruits convicts to form an army, seals off human markets in Yingcheng, annihilates bandits of Mangdang Mountain, breaks the monopolies of aristocratic families, and buries commoners slaughtered by barbarian tribes after passing the gate. Upon arriving at his fief, he discovers that former dynasty loyalists in the inner city are colluding with barbarians and cruelly exploiting outer city commoners. He unites with refugee leader Zhuge Zhe to launch a night raid, completely eradicating the aristocratic forces collaborating with the enemy and committing treason. Li Che is determined to carve out a peaceful and prosperous land between White Mountain and Black Water where thousands of commoners can live and work in peace and strengthen themselves.
