Lin Chen, a miscellaneous laborer of the Azure Cloud Sect with inferior aptitude, suffered endless bullying. Accidentally binding to the Leave Sect and Ascend System, he could ascend directly upon being expelled or leaving the sect. Lin Chen deliberately courted death in fancy ways, stealing spiritual chickens, blowing up alchemy furnaces, and surrendering in martial arts competitions, but the sect master and elders regarded him as a hidden genius. He was promoted all the way to inner gate and true inheritance disciple, and his sect-leaving rewards continued to rise. Mo Fan, a genius of the sect, grew suspicious and repeatedly plotted to expose him, which instead constantly raised Lin Chen's reputation. Just as Lin Chen was about to take office as the young sect master with no hope of leaving the sect, the demon race invaded, and the sect faced peril. The system released the ultimate mission, and leaving the sect at this moment would achieve immortal status. Lin Chen gave up ascending and led the crowd to fight the demons in a bloody battle with the system's trump card.
