The Last Warmth in a World of Ashes
Lin Chuxia mistakenly believes the on-screen plot comments that appear before her eyes and becomes convinced that her husband, Gu Xingzhou, still loves his unattainable first love. Acting on impulse, she asks for a divorce. Not long after their separation, the apocalypse breaks out. Bitten and transformed into a zombie, she follows her instincts to Gu Xingzhou's doorstep. Faced with his already-mutated ex-wife, Gu Xingzhou lowers his gun and deludes himself into believing that her symptoms are merely caused by low blood sugar. He insists on bringing her home to care for her, inventing all sorts of excuses to conceal her identity from others. When his supposed first love arrives and exposes the truth, the reason Gu Xingzhou risked his life searching for Lin Chuxia during the apocalypse finally comes to light. After clearing up their misunderstanding, the two take a special serum and ultimately remain together in the apocalypse as a rare kind of infected.
