Su Wanchui, a skilled cook, is maliciously framed by Steward Wang at a banquet in the Gu residence and expelled from the estate. Letting go of the injustice of her past, she sets up a humble food stall on an old street south of the city, warming the hearts of downcast and destitute passersby with bowl after bowl of comforting home-cooked soups and meals. Shen Yu, a scholar who failed the imperial examinations, and the kind-hearted Granny Lin are moved by her cooking and her clear-sighted, open-hearted nature. When the truth finally comes to light, the Gu family comes to apologize and offers her wealth, honor, and status. But Su Wanchui refuses to return to the gilded cage of the wealthy, choosing instead to tend her modest street stall and find inner peace, freedom, and a fulfilling life amid the warmth and bustle of everyday living.
