Hunting tigers to clear old debts, setting arrays to guard a new camp. Qin Gangsheng's mother has just passed away, and his stepfather, Qin Shouyi, in order to curry favor with others, forces him to sign a severance letter and shoulder debts. Gangsheng takes back the silver hairpin left by his mother, enters the barren ridge alone to learn mountain breath perception, and hunts tigers to pay off his debts. His stepfather and old relatives repeatedly pursue and corner him, but he uses the terrain to set up defenses and counterattack, saving Su Wan, who understands herbal medicine. A blood-written letter uncovers the hidden truth behind the murders of his biological father and grandfather; he suppresses his impulse, seeks evidence with companions, and first seeks self-preservation before demanding justice.

La madre di Qin Gangsheng è appena deceduta e il suo patrigno, Qin Shouyi, per ingraziarsi gli altri, lo costringe a firmare una lettera di rottura dei rapporti e a caricarsi dei debiti.
