Grandpa Made Me Call a Yellow Dog Uncle
In Gu Yuanchuan's family, there is a rule: until the dog arrives, nobody is allowed to eat, and even his father has to call that yellow dog Uncle Dog. Two years ago, when he fell into an icy river, it was this thin yellow dog that jumped into the torrent, bit his collar, and dragged him back to the shore, leaving a long scar behind its right ear. From then on, Uncle Dog had its own bowl and seat, becoming an elder whom the Gu family waited for to be complete before having a meal. It accompanied him as he grew up, saw him off on journeys, and waited day after day for him to return beneath the old pagoda tree at the village entrance. It was not until the day he got married that he understood: someone will always wait for you, but it will not wait forever.
