The Ledger of Loyal Souls: The Border Corpse Collection Trade
Lu Chen, a convicted laborer, is exiled to the borderlands to collect the bodies of fallen soldiers. What should have been a miserable assignment where he simply awaits death leads him to uncover a shocking secret ledger hidden among the remains. One hundred thousand soldiers lie buried on the battlefield, their rightful military wages withheld and swallowed up through layer upon layer of corruption. With the corpses as evidence and the account books as proof, he confronts powerful military officials despite his status as a condemned man. Amid the smoke of war and desolate graves, he reopens the case and seeks justice for the loyal souls who died unjustly. The road ahead is filled with deadly dangers, but he refuses to let the border guards' bones grow cold in vain or allow their honorable names to be betrayed.
