The Old Man in the Coffin
After 5 million yuan in demolition compensation arrives, Zhang Jianguo worries that his children will fight over the money. He comes up with a plan to fake his death and lie in a coffin, asking his wife, Li Xiulan, to claim that he died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage so he can test the true intentions of their three children. After receiving the devastating news, the eldest son and his wife, their daughter, and their youngest son return home one after another. Although the children appear to pay their respects, they are actually preoccupied with finding out what happened to the compensation money. The eldest daughter-in-law asks about the money as soon as she enters, and the siblings immediately begin arguing over the inheritance, showing no respect for the solemn atmosphere before the coffin. Lying inside, Zhang Jianguo silently listens to their quarrels and sees his children's true nature when money is at stake.
