Chi Ling is the last bloodline of the ancient Red Dragons, and she was nearly boiled with scallions and ginger by her own mother. Lin Yuan, the Ice Immortal Lord, happens to pass by, fishes her out of the pot, hatches her and raises her. He teaches her magic, yet pushes her away for the sake of propriety between men and women. Five hundred years later, Chi Ling storms the Nine Netherworlds to fetch a cure to save him, and her dragon core shatters; he gives up all his cultivation for her and turns his back on the Heavenly Realm. Her mother Chi Yan and her father Li Yuan, the Demon Lord, step in to protect their own, tearing apart the schemer and standing up to the Heavenly Emperor. In the end, the aloof war god marries into the Demon Realm, happy to be devoted to her. A heartwarming story: once you protected me as I grew up; from now on, I'll keep you safe year after year.
