Modern girl Jiang Luyi accidentally transmigrates into the body of the vicious female supporting character Su Ruan. Right at the beginning, she mistakenly barges into the bedchamber of the deranged Prince Zhao, Yan Chen, and injures the heavily aphrodisiac-poisoned prince with a vase. To escape the tragic death destined for her in the original novel, she puts on an affectionate, theatrical facade to deal with him, deftly resolving conflicts in inner-court rivalries and poetry feasts while planning her escape. On the run, she rescues Yan Chen after he falls into the river following an ambush, only to be controlled by his poison and drawn into an intrigue surrounding a stolen secret token. As they test and pull at each other through suspicion, an inescapable bond quietly begins to grow.
