I Pulled the Emperor Aboard the Ship
Wan Erniang, a riverside fisherwoman and leader of the Canal Gang, fishes out the distressed, traveling-incognito reigning emperor while fishing, mistakenly taking him as a muddled old man and taking him in. Qiao Sanshu and the seasick imperial guard Wu Xun accompany them, with laughs erupting all along the way, and the group repeatedly encountering assassins sent by the imperial princes. The group takes refuge under the third prince, Prince Rong, whose governed territory is clear and orderly. Prince Rong gradually develops romantic feelings for Wan Erniang. An imperial prince rebellion breaks out, and Wan Erniang utilizes the Canal Gang's influence to escort the emperor to break through the encirclement, assisting the large army in pacifying the turmoil. The emperor establishes Prince Rong as the heir apparent, and wants to confer upon her the title of princess, but she rejects worldly glory, staying behind on the river to remain together with Prince Rong, raising a daughter to pass down the Canal Gang.

Wan Erniang, une pêcheuse de rivière et cheffe de la bande du canal (Cao Gang), sauve l'empereur régnant voyageant incognito lors d'une partie de pêche, le prenant pour un vieux fou distrait et l'accueillant chez elle. Qiao Sanshu et le garde impérial malade en mer Wu Xun l'accompagnent, et de nombreux incidents comiques jalonnent le voyage tandis qu'ils font face à plusieurs reprises aux assassinats de tueurs à gages envoyés par les princes. Le groupe se réfugie auprès du troisième prince Rong Wang, dont le territoire est gouverné avec clarté et droiture. Rong Wang développe peu à peu des sentiments pour Wan Erniang. Lorsqu'une rébellion de princes éclate, Wan Erniang utilise l'influence du Cao Gang pour escorter l'empereur hors de l'encerclement et aide la grande armée à pacifier le chaos. L'empereur nomme Rong Wang héritier et souhaite lui conférer le titre de princesse, mais elle refuse la gloire terrestre, restant sur le fleuve pour vivre aux côtés de Rong Wang et élever leur fille pour perpétuer le Cao Gang.
