During a Qixi blizzard, Pei Zheng, an outpost groom at the frontier, rescues a wild horse king suffering through a difficult birth amidst a pack of wolves. That very night, the colossal horse shatters the post house's wooden door, bearing in its mouth a red thread from the Temple of the Matchmaker and delivering Shen Yunshu—a noble lady in torn wedding attire who barely escaped the murderous grasp of a garrison general—right before him. In the desolate desert smoke, the two tear silk to swear their vows and unite in marriage. Tracking them down, the tyrant arrives as heavy cavalry washes the outpost in blood and abducts the bride. Amidst the ruins, Pei Zheng weeps tears of blood and blows his bone flute. Led by the Horse King, thousands of fierce frontier steeds sweep in like a black tsunami, trampling the heavy armor and charging straight at the command tent. If men harbor the hearts of beasts, then let ten thousand wild horses trample this corrupt mortal world to dust.
