In the forty-first year of Jiajing (1562), the Flying Dragon Country established by Zhang Lian was besieged by the Ming army of Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi provinces commanded by Yu Dayou. The main force was defeated and all strongholds were lost. Zhang Lian survived by luck, rallying the remaining soldiers and soldiers and civilians who were unwilling to surrender. With no way out by land, he resolved to go to sea to survive. The remnants of the Flying Dragon, carrying their families and supplies, crossed the South China Sea with the monsoon, avoided the Ming army's patrols, and arrived at Srivijaya in Nanyang (now Palembang, Sumatra). This place was far from the Ming Dynasty's control and had developed commerce and trade. Zhang Lian integrated the southward-migrating Han people, united local indigenous people, reclaimed land, and rebuilt the military and political structure, founding his nation here.

La quarante et unième année de Jiajing (1562), le Pays du Dragon Volant fondé par Zhang Lian fut assiégé par l'armée Ming des trois provinces du Fujian, du Guangdong et du Jiangxi commandée par Yu Dayou. La force principale fut vaincue et tous les bastions furent perdus. Zhang Lian survécut par chance, rassemblant les soldats restants ainsi que les civils qui refusaient de se rendre. N'ayant plus d'issue par la terre, il décida de prendre la mer pour survivre. Les restes du Dragon Volant, emportant familles et provisions, traversèrent la mer de Chine méridionale à la faveur de la mousson, échappèrent aux patrouilles de l'armée Ming et arrivèrent à Srivijaya dans le Nanyang (l'actuelle Palembang à Sumatra). Cet endroit était loin du contrôle de la dynastie Ming et le commerce y était prospère. Zhang Lian intégra les Han ayant migré vers le sud, s'allia aux populations locales, défricha les terres, reconstruisit la structure militaire et politique, et y fonda son pays.
