The Clever-Handed Cook Is Not to Be Messed With
Gu Li, a nationally certified master pastry chef, transmigrates into the body of a foolish young woman in ancient times, only to be sold as a concubine for a mere three taels of silver. Refusing the marriage in front of everyone, she joins forces with Xie Chen, a local village tough, to make and sell pastries using her exceptional baking skills. She proves her worth in court through a pastry-making contest, humiliates those trying to steal her recipes, breaks off her concubinage arrangement, and establishes her independence. After saving enough money to buy a house, she marries Xie Chen and opens her own shop. When business rivals poison her products and a family traitor leaks her recipes, she seals the evidence in a bag and reports them to the authorities, catching the culprits red-handed in court. She also saves her cousin, shares her recipes with ordinary people, and establishes fair rules for dividing the family property. With nothing but an oven full of pastries, she transforms from a foolish girl who was sold off into a successful shopkeeper surrounded by a reunited and happy family.
