The Debt of a Bucket of Water
A mountain village is suffering from a water shortage. Ma Dewang uses his family's ancestral well to control the water supply, cutting off water and obstructing construction to protect his profits, leaving the villagers furious but afraid to speak out. When his grandson falls ill after drinking from the well, village doctor A Xiu joins forces with Ma Xiaojun and Gui Fen to investigate. They uncover the truth about the contamination and lead the villagers in raising money to repair the pipes. When clean water finally flows throughout the village again, the Ma family is left without a drop. Carrying an empty bucket from door to door begging for water, Ma Dewang finally realizes that the villagers he once mistreated are his sick grandson's only hope.

Un village de montagne souffre d'une grave pénurie d'eau. Ma Dewang profite du puits ancestral de sa famille pour contrôler l'approvisionnement en eau. Afin de préserver ses intérêts, il coupe l'eau et fait obstacle aux travaux, contraignant les villageois à ravaler leur colère. Lorsque son petit-fils tombe malade après avoir bu l'eau du puits, A Xiu, le médecin du village, s'allie à Ma Xiaojun et Gui Fen pour enquêter. Ensemble, ils découvrent la vérité sur la contamination et mobilisent les habitants afin de réunir des fonds pour réparer les canalisations. Lorsque l'eau propre revient enfin dans tout le village, la famille Ma se retrouve sans la moindre goutte. Un seau vide à la main, Ma Dewang fait le tour du village pour mendier de l'eau et comprend enfin que les villageois qu'il a autrefois maltraités sont le seul espoir de son petit-fils malade.
