Tangerines and the Three Gorges, I Am There
The story unfolds from the personified perspective of a tangerine tree rooted in the Three Gorges. Middle-aged Xiao Yun returns with her daughter to Taipingxi Town, Yiling. The old tree recognizes her, and memories roll back to 1980. Childhood Xiao Yun protecting flowers, reading under the tree, and encountering danger while flying a kite are all silently guarded by the tree; when family members want to cut down the tree, she hugs the tree and cries, and the tree repays her by bearing golden fruits. During the Three Gorges migration and relocation, Xiao Yun ties a self-embroidered tangerine handkerchief and makes a pledge to return home. Years later, when she returns to her hometown, seeing the faded handkerchief still tied to the branch, she finally understands a half-life of guardianship and tearfully whispers, "So you've always been here!" As she leaves, the tangerine tree turns into a boy and waves from afar. The tree stays in its place, and her coming is a reunion.

L'histoire se déroule du point de vue personnifié d'un oranger enraciné dans les Trois Gorges. Xiao Yun d'âge mûr revient avec sa fille dans la ville de Taipingxi, à Yiling. Le vieux arbre la reconnaît, et les souvenirs remontent à 1980. L'enfance de Xiao Yun protégeant des fleurs, lisant sous l'arbre et rencontrant le danger en faisant voler un cerf-volant sont tous gardés en silence par l'arbre ; lorsque les membres de la famille veulent abattre l'arbre, elle enlace l'arbre en pleurant, et l'arbre la récompense en portant des fruits dorés. Pendant la migration et le déplacement des Trois Gorges, Xiao Yun noue un mouchoir d'oranges brodé de ses propres mains et fait le serment de retourner dans son pays natal. Des années plus tard, lorsqu'elle retourne dans sa ville natale, voyant le mouchoir fané toujours noué à la branche, elle comprend enfin une demi-vie de garde et murmure en pleurant : "Alors tu as toujours été là !" En partant, l'oranger se transforme en jeune homme et fait signe de loin. L'arbre est à sa place, et sa venue est une retrouvaille.
