Prosecutor Xu Zhiwei follows her boyfriend Cheng Jingchuan to his old family home in the Thai countryside to visit relatives, and on the way encounters a fruit stall engaging in forced buying and selling, calmly defending her rights according to the law. Cheng Jingchuan urges her to hide her identity and just say she does administrative odd jobs. Upon arriving at the Cheng family home, Xu Zhiwei sees her mother-in-law Lin Xiue being mistreated by the grandmother, handling all family meals for decades, while relatives show up just in time for meals to freeload and wantonly disparage the mother-in-law.
