The Fish Fry Pond Side's Promise
At age twelve, Su Wantang escaped after being abducted. At age fifteen, fish-selling boy Lu Yu hid her in an old fish fry pond to escape pursuers. He stuffed a hundred-yuan tuition fee into her hand, and she left behind her grandmother's silver necklace, promising to recognize each other in the future. Ten years later, Su Wantang returned to the village to look for her savior. Qian Wanhai produced the silver necklace, claiming his son Qian Peng was the savior. Qian Peng falsely claimed it, but his story was full of flaws. Su Wantang discovered that Lu Yu had dropped out of school back then because of the hundred-yuan tuition fee, and the necklace had been pawned by Lu Yu to the Qian family to treat his father's illness. As the truth unfolded, Qian Peng confessed to the false claim. Su Wantang found Lu Yu by the river and questioned him why he wouldn't acknowledge it. Lu Yu remained silent and enduring, and Su Wantang took out a laminated hundred-yuan bill, saying, 'I have been looking for you for ten years.'
