Xu Nan, a young woman from southern China, travels far to Northeast China after experiencing setbacks in life, intending to put her troubled past behind her. On the train, however, she is stopped by Wang Xiulan, a warmhearted and cheerful mother, who takes her home to her farmhouse and lovingly cares for her. Surrounded by the warmth and kindness of Wang Xiulan and her family, Xu Nan gradually overcomes her sadness and falls in love with Wang's son, Zhao Pengfei. The two eventually marry. After their wedding, Zhao Pengfei goes missing for a year while carrying out a mission. With the support of her parents-in-law, Xu Nan gives birth to their daughter, Lele. At last, Zhao Pengfei returns home safely, reuniting the family and ushering them into a warm and happy new life.

Xu Nan, una joven del sur de China, viaja hasta el lejano noreste tras sufrir varias decepciones en la vida. Su intención es dejar atrás los asuntos que le atormentan, pero en el tren se encuentra con Wang Xiulan, la madre de la familia Zhao, una mujer alegre y de buen corazón que la invita a su casa de campo y la cuida con mucho cariño. Gracias al calor y al afecto de Wang Xiulan y su familia, Xu Nan consigue salir poco a poco de su tristeza. Allí conoce mejor a Zhao Pengfei, el hijo de Wang Xiulan, del que acaba enamorándose.
