The Coveted Later Years
At the wedding, the daughter-in-law, Xu Zhiyu, shockingly demands that her in-laws live separately and that her mother move into the Lu family home to enjoy her retirement. The groom, Lu Zihao, silently agrees. Shen Qinlan and her husband firmly refuse, reclaim the betrothal gifts and wedding house, and cut off their son's financial support. Xu Zhiyu and her mother scheme to deceive the couple into handing over their property and spread rumors to pressure them. However, the couple calmly gathers evidence and pretends to organize a family appreciation banquet. At the event, they expose the truth: the women had been using the excuse of repaying a younger brother's debts to swindle them out of their money. They also announce their retirement plans, including donating their inheritance to charity. The Xu family suffers the consequences of its own actions, while Lu Zihao finally comes to his senses, takes responsibility by working independently, and agrees to repay the money in installments.
