To protect the nine-tailed fox Bai Xiaojiu, the God of War Xiao Yan sacrifices his soul. Bai Xiaojiu saves him using the forbidden technique known as the Rebirth Curse, but the spell comes at the cost of her own life force. After Xiao Yan loses his memories, the two reunite. To protect her, he creates a symbiotic battle armor and takes her through the Three Tribulations, with Xiaojiu's soul entering the armor. Later, the two search for the Spirit-Cleansing Fruit and break through a mysterious realm, but they must still face heavenly tribulations and the trials of protecting the fox clan.
