Rent Triples, I End the Lease with One Letter
After Dong Lai's parents passed away early, his aunt Dong Fang and her family persuaded him to run a supermarket by offering him a storefront at a low rent. Once his business became successful, however, they raised the rent for three consecutive years, eventually tripling it and demanding that he pay three million yuan. Dong Lai refuses to give in and decisively terminates the lease. He then spends twenty million yuan to purchase a struggling shopping mall across the street, leading his employees to expand the business and build an honest shopping mall of his own. Dong Fang and her husband, Zhao Dabao, are convinced that Dong Lai will inevitably fail after leaving such a prime location. Little do they realize that they will ultimately pay the price for their greed and broken promises, having profited from their malicious rent increases.

I genitori di Dong Lai morirono quando lui era ancora piccolo. Sua zia Dong Fang e la sua famiglia lo convinsero a gestire un supermercato offrendogli un locale commerciale a un prezzo d'affitto molto basso. Tuttavia, quando l'attività iniziò ad avere successo, aumentarono l'affitto per tre anni consecutivi, fino a triplicarlo e a pretendere da lui tre milioni di yuan. Dong Lai non cede e decide fermamente di rescindere il contratto d'affitto. In seguito, investe venti milioni di yuan per acquistare il centro commerciale dall'altra parte della strada, ormai sull'orlo della bancarotta.
