Just as white-collar worker Xia Lang is about to reach the pinnacle of his career with a promotion and raise, he encounters a long-premeditated extortion scheme by his former landlords from four years ago, Guo Cheng and Li Fang. Fabricating debt claims, manipulating neighbor sentiment, and colluding with company insider Wang Wei to stab him in the workplace back, the villains attempt to destroy Xia Lang's character. Facing adversity, Xia Lang gathers solid evidence, exposes the forged proof through forensic appraisal, and turns Guo Cheng's greed for demolition compensation against him to legally seize the property. In subsequent counterattacks, Xia Lang outsmarts hypocrite Guo Haoran, collaborates with the police to eradicate violent debt-collection forces, achieves financial freedom, and climbs steadily to the top of his career.
