The 10,000 yuan he painstakingly saved over six years for his wedding is stolen and used to pay for Lu Lei's marriage to Qian Meifeng. Furious, Lu Zheng separates from his family. He gives Shen Xiuhe's family a color television, refrigerator, and washing machine, and builds them a three-story house. When Lu Lei and his wife come demanding money, he cuts ties with them. Meanwhile, Lu Lei and his wife lose their entire fortune in a fraudulent nutria-farming scheme. They kneel and beg Lu Zheng to take them in, but he refuses.
