A Millennium Mural Game, I Restore Ancient Paintings and Awaken the Black Cat Guarding the Grotto
Cheng Fu, a recent graduate specializing in cultural relic restoration, travels to the Mingsha Thousand-Buddha Grottoes to apply for a high-paying night-shift restoration job. There, he unexpectedly awakens Xuan Mo, a spiritual entity residing in the murals who takes the form of a black cat and protects the grotto. Using traditional restoration techniques, Cheng Fu repairs ancient murals and suppresses the evil spirits lurking within them. When the Cultural Relics Anomaly Management Bureau gets involved, Shen Henian, a painting thief disguised as an expert, infiltrates the grotto to destroy the seals and attempts to refine the Sand Nightmare. During his investigation, Cheng Fu discovers that his grandfather, Cheng Shouyi, who disappeared ten years ago, has been hiding within the gaps of the murals to protect the seal. In the final confrontation, grandfather and grandson join forces to restore the Guardian Grotto mural using a method of symbiosis with cultural heritage. Xuan Mo burns his own essence to suppress the Sand Nightmare, while Shen Henian suffers a backlash and is captured. Afterwards, Cheng Fu is appointed chief restoration specialist and learns that the nine grottoes share the same origin and that the Sand Nightmare has not been destroyed. He sets out to find the remaining eight grottoes.

Cheng Fu, jeune diplômé spécialisé dans la restauration du patrimoine culturel, se rend aux grottes des Mille Bouddhas de Mingsha pour postuler à un poste de restaurateur de nuit très bien rémunéré. Il réveille accidentellement Xuan Mo, un esprit des fresques chargé de protéger la grotte et prenant l'apparence d'un chat noir. Grâce aux techniques de restauration anciennes, Cheng Fu répare les fresques et réprime les entités maléfiques qui y résident. Lorsque le Bureau de gestion des anomalies du patrimoine culturel intervient, Shen Henian, un voleur de peintures déguisé en expert, s'infiltre dans les grottes pour détruire les sceaux et tenter de raffiner le Cauchemar des sables. Au cours de son enquête, Cheng Fu découvre que son grand-père, Cheng Shouyi, disparu depuis dix ans, se cache en réalité dans les interstices des fresques afin de protéger le sceau. Finalement, le grand-père et son petit-fils unissent leurs forces pour restaurer la fresque protectrice de la grotte grâce à une méthode de symbiose avec l'héritage culturel. Xuan Mo consume son essence originelle pour contenir le Cauchemar des sables, tandis que Shen Henian subit un contrecoup et est arrêté. Après ces événements, Cheng Fu est nommé restaurateur en chef et apprend que les neuf grottes partagent la même origine et que le Cauchemar des sables n'a pas été éliminé. Il part alors à la recherche des huit autres grottes.
