Shen Ruo, a woman of the Shen family, inherits the destiny of an official historian family. Her father and brother were punished for writing history straightforwardly. To protect her family, she dared not record the truth of the imperial court, instead writing amusing unofficial history under a pseudonym, which unexpectedly became a sensation in the capital. Through a twist of fate, Shen Ruo was appointed as the current imperial historian, navigating within the court. She performed her duties in the court on one hand while secretly creating unofficial history on the other. Having gone through various storms, she unraveled entanglements from all sides, broke free from the dilemma of writing history, and ultimately managed to record events truthfully. Her father and brother each found their own life directions as well. Shen Ruo took in younger generations widely, balancing the compilation of official history with the recording of folk tales, preserving all facets of the mortal world with her brush and ink.
