Rent Triples, I End the Lease with One Letter
After Dong Lai's parents passed away early, his aunt Dong Fang and her family persuaded him to run a supermarket by offering him a storefront at a low rent. Once his business became successful, however, they raised the rent for three consecutive years, eventually tripling it and demanding that he pay three million yuan. Dong Lai refuses to give in and decisively terminates the lease. He then spends twenty million yuan to purchase a struggling shopping mall across the street, leading his employees to expand the business and build an honest shopping mall of his own. Dong Fang and her husband, Zhao Dabao, are convinced that Dong Lai will inevitably fail after leaving such a prime location. Mais lorsque son entreprise a commencé à prospérer, ils ont augmenté le loyer pendant trois années consécutives, jusqu'à le tripler et à exiger de lui trois millions de yuans. Dong Lai refuse de céder et résilie fermement son bail. Il investit ensuite vingt millions de yuans pour acheter le centre commercial d'en face, qui est au bord de la faillite. À la tête de ses employés, il développe son activité et bâtit son propre centre commercial fondé sur l'honnêteté. Dong Fang et son mari, Zhao Dabao, sont convaincus que Dong Lai échouera forcément après avoir quitté cet emplacement commercial privilégié.
