Su Jintang, the legitimate daughter of Jin'an's wealthiest merchant and a master of the abacus, wholeheartedly wants to open a shop and become a female manager, but is schemed by her stepmother into marrying Pei Jingxing, the notorious prodigal of Jin'an City. On their wedding night, the groom climbs out the window and escapes to the gambling den. Su Jintang grabs a staff and chases after him, making a bet with him: if he quits gambling for a month, she will hand over her dowry for him to manage; if he fails, they will divorce. The two bicker and accompany each other, joining hands in business to turn the embroidery workshop into the capital's top shop, and Pei Jingxing even places high in the imperial examinations as the third rank imperial scholar. As a ten-year-old family annihilation case of the past is uncovered, Su Jintang is shocked to find her husband's identity is also an illusion.
