In the hegemony struggle between Northern and Southern markets, he defeated his formidable rival Guoli Electric, expanding his commercial empire into home appliances, e-commerce, department stores, and even the football industry. Climbing all the way to become the richest man, he forged a hundred-billion-yuan business empire. In the later stage, through blind and massive mergers and acquisitions, poor investments led to a staggering loss of twenty billion yuan. Coupled with succession troubles plaguing his descendants, the group faced grave crises. Ultimately, burdened with debts as high as 230 billion yuan, Dingsheng ignominiously delisted.

Grâce à un service intégré de livraison et d'installation, il brisa les barrières des appareils d'État et s'imposa lors de la Guerre des Climatiseurs de 1993. Par une expansion fulgurante, il atteignit cent magasins en trois ans. Dans la lutte pour l'hégémonie des marchés du nord et du sud, il écrasa son redoutable rival Guoli Électroménager, étendant sans cesse son empire commercial à l'électroménager, au commerce électronique, aux grands magasins et même à l'industrie du football, pour atteindre le sommet des fortunes et bâtir un empire commercial de cent milliards. Plus tard, en raison d'acquisitions aveugles et massives, des investissements ratés entraînant une perte colossale de vingt milliards, conjugués aux problèmes de succession de ses héritiers, le groupe fit face à de graves crises. Finalement, croulant sous des dettes atteignant 230 milliards, Dingsheng se retira discrètement de la cote.
