The three Tang brothers are orphans. When they return to look for their elder sister, Tang Qiulian, they discover that she married into the Sun family and died in childbirth while carrying her second child, leaving behind her five-year-old daughter, Tangtang. Lorsqu'ils reviennent chercher leur sœur aînée, Tang Qiulian, ils découvrent qu'elle a épousé un membre de la famille Sun et qu'elle est morte lors d'un accouchement difficile alors qu'elle attendait son deuxième enfant, laissant derrière elle sa fille de cinq ans, Tangtang. Lors du banquet de fiançailles, une mère et sa fille ramassent le pendentif de jade de Tangtang et le portent, poussant les trois frères à se tromper d'enfant. Le pendentif reconnaît le sang, et une seule goutte du sang de la véritable enfant suffit à prouver son identité. Après avoir retrouvé leur nièce, les trois frères concluent un pari sur-le-champ.
