Le soir de son mariage, la princesse de commanderie Cui Nanyin est abandonnée par son époux, Shen Yan, qui insiste pour épouser Lin Rushuang, une chanteuse ambulante. Incapable de supporter une telle humiliation, Cui Nanyin rompt publiquement leurs fiançailles et retourne à la résidence du général Zhenguo.
