Zhao Xiulan, chairwoman of Dingjian Group, has lived for years under an assumed identity as a female construction worker to toughen up her son. On the day of his wedding, she is suddenly involved in a car accident. After being discharged from the hospital, she discovers that her marital home has been taken over by her in-law, Jinfeng: the locks have been changed and her personal belongings have been removed. Her son, however, keeps urging her to give in. Heartbroken, Zhao Xiulan withdraws the property and shares she had originally intended to give the couple, drawing clear boundaries through her actions. As her true identity gradually comes to light and the family goes through several conflicts, her son and daughter-in-law finally mature and come to their senses, while Jinfeng learns to respect her limits. Both families eventually return to a peaceful, stable daily life with clearly defined boundaries.

Zhao Xiulan, présidente du groupe Dingjian, vit depuis des années sous une fausse identité, en tant qu'ouvrière sur un chantier, afin de forger le caractère de son fils. Le jour du mariage de celui-ci, elle est soudainement victime d'un accident de voiture. À sa sortie de l'hôpital, elle découvre que sa belle-famille, représentée par Jinfeng, s'est approprié la maison destinée aux jeunes mariés : les serrures ont été changées et ses effets personnels ont été débarrassés. Pourtant, son fils ne cesse de lui demander de céder. Le cœur brisé, Zhao Xiulan reprend les biens immobiliers et les parts qu'elle avait initialement l'intention d'offrir au couple, imposant ainsi des limites claires par ses actes. À mesure que sa véritable identité se dévoile et que la famille traverse plusieurs conflits, son fils et sa belle-fille finissent par mûrir et prendre conscience de leurs erreurs. Jinfeng apprend également à respecter les limites. Les deux familles retrouvent finalement une vie quotidienne paisible et stable, fondée sur des limites clairement établies.
