The Three Mountain Kings: The List of Gods Who Guard the Nation
Narrated by an old man, this tale follows the three divine arrows of the Xuanyuan Bow as they take human form. Through the Sui and Tang dynasties, they help Yang Jian unify the realm, save Chen Yuanguang, and assist Han Yu in quelling disasters. In the early Northern Song, the Three Mountain Gods descend into the mortal world once more, helping Emperor Taizong of Song defeat the puppet forces of Northern Han and vanquish the plague god and its evil manifestations, bringing the realm under one rule. For their meritorious service in protecting the nation, they are officially enshrined as the Three Mountain Kings and recorded in the Yongle Encyclopedia, becoming a spiritual symbol that unites the shared heritage of both sides of the Taiwan Strait and protects the descendants of Huaxia through a thousand years of worship.
