Summer in the Bamboo Basket
A torrential downpour destroys the terraced fields, leaving Lin He’s family with just 8.6 yuan and a debt of 30 yuan. She and Chen Chunsheng take on an order for twenty bamboo baskets and learn the craft from Master Zhou, a gruff man with a soft heart. When their shelter collapses on a rainy night, Zhao Dazhuang secretly sabotages them, and market traders try to force down their prices. Lin He turns the tide by demonstrating on the spot that her baskets can hold water without leaking. At a trade fair, she secures a major order and establishes a bamboo-weaving cooperative, bringing both the abandoned fields and the bamboo basket business back to life. After a disastrous start, the whole village works together, piece by piece, to build a springtime of hope.

Insieme a Chen Chunsheng, accetta un ordine di venti cesti di bambù e impara l'arte dell'intreccio dal maestro Zhou, un uomo burbero ma dal cuore tenero. Una notte di pioggia, il capanno crolla, Zhao Dazhuang sabota di nascosto il loro lavoro e i commercianti del mercato cercano di abbassare i prezzi. Lin He ribalta la situazione dimostrando sul posto che i suoi cesti possono contenere acqua senza perdere una goccia. Durante una fiera commerciale, ottiene una grossa commessa e fonda un gruppo di intreccio del bambù, riportando in vita sia i campi abbandonati sia l'attività dei cesti.
