Traveling back to the famine year of 1960, Shen Xian inherits the status of a martyr's family and a young brother, Shen Man. Relying on a portable grain depot space, he supports their dilapidated cave dwelling. Facing a clan uncle forging an IOU to seize their grain and land, petty villains in the brigade causing trouble, and black-market grain tyrants colluding with villagers for profit, he stays unyielding and upright.
