College student Song Zhiwei trends online after a video surfaces of her eating plain steamed buns in the cafeteria. Her stepmother, Qin Man, confronts her, claiming she provides a generous monthly living allowance, yet Zhiwei has only received a meager sum from her father, Song Zhiyuan. An investigation reveals that Song Zhiyuan embezzled the funds in Song Zhiwei's name to support someone else. Once Qin Man uncovers the financial records, Song Zhiwei sees her father's true colors and cuts ties with him. When they are later framed by family elders, the two join forces to gather evidence and reveal the truth. Overcoming the emotional toll of her past, Song Zhiwei earns an overseas exchange opportunity and builds a deep mother-daughter bond with Qin Man. Upon returning, she launches a campus meal assistance initiative to support students in need.
