During a severe drought in Liuhe Village, an elderly woman named Qin Guihua rescues Xiao Li, a mysterious little girl held aloft by a hundred carps in the river. Since her arrival at the Qin household, the dried pond fills with fish, the barren well flows with fresh water, and her casual remarks always provide a lifeline in moments of peril. Ten years later, as the river declines once more, Xiao Li's true origin and the legend of the vanished Hundred Carp River come to light. To restore the river to its rightful course, the entire village unites to dredge the waterways, while Xiao Li ultimately embarks on her true homebound journey.
