A Skilled Seamstress Meets a Good Man
In a rural village in northern China in the 1990s, Lin Chunmei has just given birth to her second daughter. Because she has failed to give her husband's family a son, she is mistreated by her in-laws and eventually thrown out of the house with her two daughters. When she has nowhere left to turn, Chen Zhiyuan, her childhood sweetheart, offers her a helping hand. Relying on her exceptional tailoring skills, Lin Chunmei starts out selling clothes at a street stall and gradually opens her own clothing shop. Through her hard work, she builds a life for herself, earns the respect of her neighbors, and finds a stable, loving new family.

En una aldea rural del norte de China en los años noventa, Lin Chunmei acaba de dar a luz a su segunda hija. Como no ha tenido un hijo varón, la familia de su antiguo marido la trata cruelmente y acaba echándola de casa junto con sus dos hijas. Cuando ya no sabe adónde acudir, Chen Zhiyuan, su amigo de la infancia, le tiende una mano.
