Arranged by her mother on a blind date with He Zheng, Shu Yao acts difficult on purpose to scare him off, only for him to seal the marriage by joking that he was just missing an "ancestor" to pamper. The He family quickly offers lavish betrothal gifts. After registering their marriage, both families meet and the elders are thoroughly impressed. At home, He Zheng takes over all the chores, hands over all his money, shields her in the rain, wards off unwanted suitors, and accommodates her every whim. Moving from a marriage of convenience to genuinely falling in love, the two host a low-key private dinner and begin their life together under one roof.
