Lin Xiulan marries the chef Zhang Jianguo in a second marriage, believing she has found a peaceful twilight romance. For three years, he cooks soups and prepares meals for her every day, showing meticulous care; however, he is actually scheming to covet her three-million-yuan retirement home, intending to pay off huge debts for his son who is entangled in gambling debts. By chance, Lin Xiulan discovers the conspiracy of the father and son without exposing them on the spot. Feigning ignorance and being blinded by love, she secretly sets up surveillance to gather all evidence, pretending to agree to sign the mortgage on the property. When they team up with an agent to force her to press her fingerprints, Lin Xiulan joins forces with her daughter to close the net, handing the gang of fraudsters over to the police and safeguarding the family fortune she built up through half a lifetime.
