Yu Wan, a noble young lady from a prestigious family, is betrothed by imperial decree to the young general Shen Ce. At their first arranged meeting, after waiting for half an hour, she is thoroughly exasperated by this 'uncultured brute'; Shen Ce, likewise, disdains the rigid rules of aristocratic families and wishes only to keep his distance after marriage. But the moment he pushes open the door, Shen Ce changes his mind on the spot. The fierce frontier general, who just declared how much he loathes delicate noble ladies, feels his heart hammer like thunder the moment he meets Yu Wan's indignant, watery gaze—instantly turning from cold resistance to clumsy attempts to win her over. One is sharp-tongued yet soft-hearted and deeply cultured, while the other is blunt, headstrong, and passionately sincere. Starting from mutual disdain, the two gradually grow closer amid witty clashes and comical encounters.
