Twenty-five-year-old college graduate Chu Chen takes over the Chu Family Grocery Store left by his grandfather. By day, the shop welcomes occultists of the mortal realm; by midnight, it caters exclusively to the dead of the underworld. Amassing a fortune worth tens of millions by selling rare occult artifacts, Chu Chen plans to close the shop and head to Xijing to confess his feelings to his seven-year campus crush, Shen Qingyu. But late that night, his grandfather's ghost appears with a stern warning: closing the store will cost him his life! Compelled to keep the shop running, Chu Chen is soon visited by the Black and White Impermanence, Gold Cuffs and Silver Locks, and the Ox-Head and Horse-Face guardians seeking help. Abiding by the strict laws of yin-yang trade and demanding oaths as payment, he mediates between mortals and the underworld, unraveling deep feuds and dark aristocratic secrets.
