Liu Cunshan, an old mountain farmer, unexpectedly gains a stubborn yet soft-hearted little fire dragon thanks to a good deed involving half a ladle of water. From daily bickering to fighting side by side, the man and the dragon build a deep trust through successive trials of seeking water during a drought, scrambling for grain in heavy rain, and rescuing people from a collapsed mountain. Faced with the desperate situation of a flood surrounding the village, they lead the villagers to cut through rocks and dig trenches, protecting their homeland with their tiny strength and writing a warm legend that transcends species.
