My Apprentice Says I'm Old, but Clients Only Trust Me
For three years, I trained my apprentice, Chen Liang, devoting myself to teaching him my craft and introducing him to clients. But to snatch a homestay renovation contract, he publicly called me outdated, undercut my price, and passed off my completed projects as his own. I didn't fight him for the job; I simply insisted that the materials, timeline, and after-sales service be clearly stated in writing. After Chen Liang won the contract with his low bid, he repeatedly substituted inferior materials and did shoddy work. When problems arose, he spread rumors everywhere that I was deliberately holding him back. One after another, clients saw through his impatience and lack of principles, and ultimately chose to trust my steady craftsmanship. Skills may become outdated, but following the rules and honoring one's word will always win people's trust.
