Following the clues, she arrives at Gu Family Village to find herself a father and takes in Gu Laoliu, a penniless oddball with a mind that works in mysterious ways. The father and daughter have their own arrangement: she lies back and enjoys the gossip, while he is reluctantly pushed to become a successful man. Two enormous wolves that can hunt also join their little family. From splitting up the family household, stealing pigs, and going to the city to repairing tractors, building roads, establishing a breeding farm, developing irrigation, and growing medicinal herbs, Gu Laoliu transforms from the village's notorious madman into a highly skilled workhorse. Meanwhile, with her innate pocket dimension and extraordinary gossip radar, Chang'an turns their life in the 1960s into a lively whirlwind of chaos and laughter.
