Millennium Beachcombing: Digging Gold Out of a Mudflat
In the autumn of 1998, 28-year-old fisherman Chen Mancang is schemed against by his elder brother, Chen Dafa, and forced to divide the family property. All he receives is a barren mudflat west of the village, where not even a blade of grass grows. His heavily pregnant wife endures constant humiliation. One rainy night, Mancang rescues an old sea turtle tangled in a fishing net and unexpectedly obtains a thousand-year-old giant clam shell called the Tide-Listening Shell, which can hear the tides to locate fish and purify water with its spiritual essence. From then on, he uses the shell to find fish and purify water, turning a dead mudflat into a gold mine. Starting with gathering seafood and selling it at a stall, he gradually expands into tidal-flat aquaculture, deep-sea fishing, and cold-chain processing, eventually building a seafood business empire.
