Shen Yun (Mianmian), the third daughter of the Shen family, voluntarily takes her sisters' place to marry General Xie Yuan, who is rumored to be ruthless in battle, by imperial decree. On their wedding night, she is stunned to discover that the old confidant she bonded with in the past, "Wufeng," is none other than her husband, Xie Yuan. Amid playful teasing and tension in the bridal chamber, misunderstandings dissolve, and Mianmian sees that beneath Xie Yuan's cold exterior lies tenderness and boundless indulgence. On a snowy night returning from the Lantern Festival temple fair, an urgent border dispatch arrives: the Northern Di are invading in force, and Xie Yuan receives an imperial decree to immediately lead troops to their aid. Before the snow-covered city gates, the two part in heartbreak as Xie Yuan gallops off to the battlefield, leaving Shen Yun standing alone in the drifting snow, praying with all her heart for her beloved's safe return.
