During the bitter winter of the 1980s, Chen Shanhe, a remarkably skilled hunter, is set up and pushed off a cliff. Gravely injured, he loses his memory and is left with the mind of a child, wandering through the wilderness. Unable to bear seeing him suffer, Lin Xiuhe, a kind-hearted mute woman, rescues him and brings him home, carefully looking after him despite her own financial hardships. Having lost his memories, Chen Shanhe becomes devoted to Lin Xiuhe, the woman who showed him kindness, and always steps forward to protect her in times of danger. Together, they put down roots in the countryside and establish a cooperative for local mountain produce, fairly protecting the livelihoods of fellow hunters. As his memories gradually return, he begins to uncover the full truth behind what happened to him. Through countless trials and tribulations, the two remain true to themselves, protect the mountains and their fellow villagers, and find their way to each other, ultimately building a peaceful and happy life together.
